It’s not that we don’t believe your story …

In a week where we celebrate a landmark in the history of gender equality, and in a year when the #metoo campaign has shone a light on contemporary mysogyny, how timely that we should turn to another Jesus story that highlights power relationships between men and women.

The story of the "woman caught in adultery" has persistently perplexed a patriarchal church with commentators performing theological somersaults to interpret Jesus’ apparent moral latitude. As we meet on Sunday to explore the story once again, let us join Jesus in crouching down and meeting one another face to face as fellow strugglers on a path marked ‘forgiveness’.

Everybody’s welcome here!
